Ten-year-old India Opal Buloni describes her first summer in the town of Naomi, Florida, and all the good things that happen to her because of her big ugly dog Winn-Dixie.

“This is an amazingly touching and heartwarming story. It deals with some harsh realities in a very accessible way. It’s an easy book to read but I would most highly recommend it for 4th grade.”
